Help Students Reach Their Potential

TX-STAR Speech Language Services supports school districts across Texas by connecting students with specialized academic, behavioral, and mental health services. We are hiring School Psychologists for educational assignments in Austin and nearby communities.

These opportunities are suited for professionals who value thoughtful assessment, collaborative problem-solving, and practical interventions that help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a School Psychologist, you will help campus teams understand student needs, make informed eligibility decisions, and develop appropriate educational and behavioral supports.

In this role, you will:

  • Plan and complete comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational evaluations

  • Select, administer, score, and interpret cognitive, achievement, behavioral, and social-emotional measures

  • Integrate assessment results, records, observations, and stakeholder input into clear evaluation findings

  • Provide recommendations related to eligibility, educational programming, accommodations, and student services

  • Support the creation and ongoing review of Individualized Education Programs

  • Consult with educators and families regarding learning concerns, behavior, intervention strategies, and student progress

  • Assist campus personnel with classroom interventions, behavior plans, and data-based problem-solving

  • Participate in ARD and IEP meetings and explain evaluation results in clear, accessible language

  • Complete initial evaluations and reevaluations within required state, federal, and district timelines

  • Maintain organized case files, reports, service records, and compliance documentation

  • Coordinate effectively with teachers, administrators, related-service providers, and multidisciplinary teams

Qualifications for This Position

  • Master’s degree in School Psychology or a closely related discipline

  • Valid Texas credential permitting practice as a School Psychologist

  • Experience evaluating cognitive functioning, academic performance, behavior, and social-emotional needs

  • Working knowledge of IDEA, FERPA, special education eligibility, evaluation requirements, and procedural safeguards

  • Strong report-writing, presentation, consultation, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to manage several evaluations, deadlines, meetings, and campus responsibilities simultaneously

  • Capacity to work independently while contributing effectively to collaborative school teams

  • English and Spanish bilingual skills are preferred

Work Setting and Scheduling Options

  • School-based opportunities in Austin and surrounding areas

  • Assignments may serve students from prekindergarten through high school

  • Available work arrangements may include:

    • Full-time placements

    • Part-time schedules

    • Hybrid assignments when supported by district procedures

  • Travel between campuses may be part of certain placements

  • Additional evaluation work during evenings or weekends may be offered

  • Assignments are matched according to credentials, experience, schedule, and district demand
