DESCRIPTION

Madison District Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, student-centered School Psychologist to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success of students. The School Psychologist collaborates with educators, administrators, families, and community partners to provide comprehensive psychological services that promote positive student outcomes and ensure compliance with federal and state special education regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's, Specialist, or Doctoral degree in School Psychology.
  • Valid Michigan School Psychologist Certificate or eligibility for certification.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, IDEA, Section 504, and Michigan Special Education Rules.
  • Experience administering and interpreting psychological assessments.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations to determine eligibility for special education services.
  • Interpret assessment results and prepare written reports in compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Participate as an active member of Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams.
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents regarding student learning, behavior, and mental health needs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing behavioral intervention plans and academic supports.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support following student or school emergencies.
  • Monitor student progress and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Support Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) processes.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies and service providers as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Provide professional development and consultation to staff on mental health, behavior, and learning strategies.
  • Stay current on best practices, legal requirements, and ethical standards in school psychology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
