Science Tutor (Part-Time)

2026-2027 School YearPosition DescriptionThe Achievement Center seeks creative and knowledgeable part-time science tutors to provide academic support for our Upper School students. Tutors provide individual support to students through weekly scheduled appointments. Applicants must have at least three years of previous tutoring and/or teaching experience with high school science courses. Experience with tutoring/teaching AP Science courses preferred.Duties and ResponsibilitiesMeet with students at the school during Achievement Center hours (M-Th 7:45 am-4:30 pm, F 7:45 am-4:00 pm) for weekly scheduled sessionsEncourage students to develop a systematic approach to studying science conceptsAssist students with specific topics that require instructional support or warrant further exploration, review recent assignments, and work through problems or questions that require re-teachingUtilize proven study strategies or manipulatives to prepare students for upcoming tests and quizzesMaintain ongoing communication with students, parents, and faculty members, including providing progress reports.Attend tutor training sessions and meetings when necessaryPerform other duties consistent with the position of a Professional TutorAll offers of employment at Christ Church Episcopal School are contingent upon the successful completion of required pre-employment background checks.
