Scrap Yard Operator

Job Summary: The Scrap Yard Operator is responsible for the operation of the Scale House as well as the proper receiving, accounting and inspection of all raw material products delivered to NLMK Indiana's Scrap Yard. This function ensures that quality raw material products are received so that Melt Shop production goals are met in a safe and efficient manner.

Role and Responsibilities

• Receive all raw materials into the plant and transaction recording into the system.
• Monitor all raw material shipped out of NLMK Indiana.
• Continuous communication with the Scrap Yard Coordinator and other Scrap Yard Operators.
• The inspection of the raw material received into the plant.
• Accurate weighing and accounting for all Scrap received.
• Responsible for efficiently directing inbound & outbound traffic.
• Responsible for processing return material and proper transaction reporting.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Must possess at least a high school diploma. Post-secondary education is a plus.
• Previous experience and knowledge of managing raw materials, scrap metals and steel producing a plus.
