    Job Description

    Are you interested in helping Amazon make history and redefine the meaning of 'fast' in eCommerce? We are the Same Day Delivery Experience team and are in the early innings of reinventing the Amazon shopping experience to make Amazon the first place customers think to shop when they need something today, wherever they are in the world. We're looking for a Software Engineer for the Same Day Delivery Experience team to help ensure we have a compelling and friction-free 'delivery in hours' experience available to our customers, and help drive continuous innovation and improvement of the delivery experience across all phases of shopping, buying, and pre and post purchase experience.

    This role is at the forefront of Generative AI innovation within the Sub-Same Day organization. As part of the LLM Foundations team, you will design, build, and scale AI-powered tools that leverage Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Natural Language Processing (NLP), prompt engineering, and agentic AI workflows to enhance customer experience and protect.

    Key job responsibilities

    Designing and building AI-powered tools leveraging LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases, prompt engineering, and agentic orchestration for customer-facing and internal applications.

    Developing and optimizing retrieval pipelines, embedding models, and context-augmented generation systems to deliver accurate, grounded AI outputs.

    Prototyping and iterating on new Agentic AI capabilities including fine-tuning, few-shot learning, chain-of-thought reasoning, and tool-use patterns

    Working with team members on design approaches for scalable AI/ML systems that serve the Same Day Delivery network.

    Diving deep into complex technical problems spanning LLM application development, data interpretation, and demand planning systems

    Raising the bar for operational excellence and development practices.
