    Position Summary

The Seasonal Claims Adjuster supports CITON’s claims operations during periods of increased claim volume, such as peak storm seasons, catastrophic events, or surges in policy activity. Working under the direction of a Claims Supervisor, the Seasonal Claims Adjuster investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and resolves assigned first- and third-party insurance claims in accordance with company guidelines, client instructions, and applicable state regulations. This is a fast-paced role suited to detail-oriented professionals who can exercise sound judgment and deliver quality outcomes under tight timelines.

    Key Responsibilities

    Claim Investigation & Documentation

    • Receive, acknowledge, and set up new claim assignments within established service-level timeframes.
    • Contact insureds, claimants, witnesses, and other involved parties to gather facts, record statements, and document loss circumstances.
    • Inspect damaged property in person or via virtual/desk-adjusting tools; photograph and diagram loss sites as needed.
    • Review policies, endorsements, and coverage documents to confirm applicable coverages, limits, and exclusions.

    Evaluation & Analysis

    • Analyze facts, policy provisions, and applicable law to determine coverage, liability, and damages.
    • Engage and direct vendors such as field inspectors, engineers, contractors, and appraisers as needed.
    • Evaluate repair estimates, medical records, wage documentation, and other supporting evidence to establish claim value.

    Negotiation & Resolution

    • Negotiate settlements with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and representatives within granted authority.
    • Issue payments, denials, or partial payments with clear, well-supported documentation.
    • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous claim notes and file documentation in the claims management system.

    Communication & Customer Service

    • Provide timely, professional, and empathetic communication to all parties throughout the claim lifecycle.
    • Explain coverage decisions, claim processes, and next steps in plain language.
    • Escalate complex or high-value matters to the Claims Supervisor or senior adjuster as appropriate.

    Compliance & Quality

    • Adhere to all client handling instructions, state fair-claims-handling regulations, and CITON quality standards.
    • Meet established productivity, cycle-time, and file-quality metrics.
    • Safeguard confidential and personally identifiable information in accordance with data-privacy requirements.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Active resident or non-resident adjuster license in the state(s) of assignment, or the ability to obtain one prior to start.
    • Minimum 1–2 years of claims adjusting experience, or equivalent experience in insurance, construction, or a related field.
    • Working knowledge of insurance policies, coverage analysis, and claims-handling principles.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional documentation.
    • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to loss sites as required.
    • Proficiency with claims management software, estimating platforms (e.g., Xactimate, Symbility), and Microsoft Office.
