Smashing Dishes and Tony Caters are seeking experienced Event Servers / Attendants to work on-call at catered events and concessions-style operations throughout the Bay Area. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, adapts quickly to changing event needs, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.

This is an on-call position with a pay rate of $25.00/hour. Employees in this role are eligible to receive tips based on the events and shifts worked.

Founded in 2009, Smashing Dishes and Tony Caters are flourishing and highly respected off-site catering companies producing extraordinary events and exceptional food service across the Bay Area. Our work includes traditional catered events, large-scale concessions-style food and beverage operations, and service at our two cafés located at The Tech Interactive Museum in downtown San Jose and the historic Winchester Mystery House.

THE ROLE

As an Event Server / Attendant, you will be responsible for supporting the setup, execution, and breakdown of catered and concessions-style events. You will collaborate closely with both Front of House and Back of House teams to provide guests with efficient, welcoming, and high-quality service.

Successful candidates are adaptable, reliable, and comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced environments where priorities and service needs may shift throughout the event.

CORE RESPONSABILITIES

• Set up and tear down catered events under the direction of the Event Manager, including tables, chairs, buffets, concessions stations, and associated décor
• Provide attentive and professional food and beverage service to guests
• Work efficiently in high-volume, fast-paced catering and concessions environments
• Present menu items, answer guest questions, and make appropriate recommendations
• Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely meal and service execution
• Garnish and decorate dishes and buffets before service
• Monitor guests and service areas to respond to additional requests and identify when service needs have changed
• Maintain clean, organized, and guest-ready service areas throughout the event
• Adapt quickly to changing timelines, guest needs, and operational priorities

REQUIREMENTS

• Friendly and upbeat attitude is a must
• Previous catering, restaurant, concessions, or high-volume food service experience
• Ability to adapt and perform well in fast-paced, changing work environments
• Responsible, accountable, and task-oriented
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Fluency in English and Spanish is a plus
• Ability to stand and work continuously for extended periods
• Ability to lift, pull, and push materials and products as required to complete assigned tasks
