Contract: 2026-2027 School Year (190 Days) Salary is based on experience. A complete salary schedule can be found on our school website.

JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate fully licensed Secondary English Teacher to join our high school team. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering a positive, engaging, and student-centered learning environment while maintaining high expectations for all students. The Secondary English Teacher is responsible for developing students'' skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language through engaging, standards-based instruction. This position promotes critical thinking, effective communication, and an appreciation for literature by exposing students to a variety of literary and informational texts. The teacher will help students strengthen their comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and analytical skills while preparing them for success in college, career, and life. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to student achievement, collaboration, and continuous professional growth.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/LICENSURE/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree required; field of study correlated to teaching assignment as an secondary English language arts with the appropriate Arkansas licensure code or equivalent Teachers with experience are valued; however, no prior experience is required

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of pre-employment background checks Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times around students, other staff members and the general public Preferred to be AP certified or have a Masters but not required

Key Responsibilities: Teaches content and skills in the English language, literature, composition, reading, and journalism to secondary pupils, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Department of Education. Focus on commitment to the learning of ALL students Work interdependently as part of a collaborative team Have a philosophy that ALL students can learn at high levels Maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians Provide English instruction and intervention to high school students. Plan and implement student-centered literacy lessons based on state standards. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom he or she is responsible. Observe and evaluate students'' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students'' varying needs and interests. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students. Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments in order to evaluate students'' progress. Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their student''s progress. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations. Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students'' needs and progress. Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations. Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs. Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration. Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.

Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following: Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds. Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails. Participate in appropriate professional activities. Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.
