Secret-Cleared Embedded Cryptographic Software Engineer

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Secret-Cleared Embedded Cryptographic Software Engineer in San Diego, California for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will design, develop, integrate, and test embedded real-time software with a primary focus on cryptographic software and secure communications.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or another STEM discipline with 5+ years of related experience, master’s degree with 3+ years, or PhD with 1+ year.
• Active U.S. Government Secret clearance.
• Proficiency in C/C++.
• Experience developing and debugging embedded real-time systems.
• Experience integrating low-level firmware and software in complex, multi-threaded embedded applications.
• Experience implementing cryptographic mechanisms using dedicated software libraries.
• Familiarity with HAIPE, OTNK, and/or IKE.
• Experience with Yocto/PetaLinux or Wind River Linux.
• Experience with Xilinx platforms, including Zynq, Ultrascale+, or Versal.
• Experience with TCP/IP and common network configurations.
• Experience using Jira, Bitbucket, Git, and Agile software development practices.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Skills

• Rust experience.
• Linux kernel or low-level driver development.
• Docker, Kubernetes, or similar container technologies.
• RESTful services.
• Software Defined Radio experience.
• Communication protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and Ethernet.
• Familiarity with Vitis, Vivado, NSA security standards, assembly language, PowerPC architectures, or bare-metal embedded drivers.
• Active Top Secret or SAP clearance.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded cryptographic software.
• Support architecture and development of real-time embedded systems.
• Integrate software with low-level firmware and hardware.
• Troubleshoot complex embedded software and system issues.
• Analyze system capabilities and resolve technical problems involving software behavior, data flow, and controls.
• Collaborate with Systems, Hardware, Digital Engineering, and Integration & Test teams.
• Support software development throughout the full lifecycle from requirements through test.

Pay

• $120.00 per hour.
