Shift: Overnight – Schedule will vary between 7:00 PM–7:00 AM and 11:00 PM–7:00 AM
About SMI Security:
Security Management Innovation (SMI) is seeking a professional, dependable, and customer-service-oriented Security Officer to join our residential community security team in the Kendall area.
This position is responsible for providing overnight security, conducting vehicle and property patrols, enforcing community parking regulations and policies, and maintaining a safe and orderly environment for residents, guests, and property staff.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently during overnight hours, communicating professionally with residents, and addressing parking and community-rule violations in a calm and respectful manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct scheduled and random overnight patrols of the residential community, parking areas, and common areas.
- Monitor vehicles and parking areas for compliance with community parking rules and regulations.
- Enforce established parking policies, community rules, and property regulations in accordance with site procedures.
- Identify and document parking violations, unauthorized vehicles, suspicious activity, and other security concerns.
- Respond appropriately to resident and guest concerns while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Prepare accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, parking violation reports, and other required documentation.
- Monitor access points, gates, parking areas, and common areas as assigned.
- Report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, suspicious activity, and policy violations to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain a visible security presence throughout the property.
- Follow all SMI Security policies, site-specific post orders, and supervisor instructions.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, property operations, and security-related information.
- Perform other security-related duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 25 years of age.
- Must live in or have reliable transportation to the Kendall area.
- Must have a clean and acceptable driving record.
- Valid Florida driver's license required.
- Valid Florida Security Class D License required.
- Previous security, patrol, parking enforcement, residential community, or property security experience is preferred.
- Must be comfortable working overnight shifts and maintaining alertness throughout the shift.
- Must demonstrate strong judgment and the ability to work independently.
- Must have professional communication and customer-service skills.
- Must be able to accurately complete written reports and documentation.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
Language Requirements:
- Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly preferred.
- Spanish-speaking candidates who are able to communicate effectively and hold a professional conversation in Spanish are encouraged to apply. The ability to communicate with residents, guests, vendors, and management is an important part of this position.

Schedule & Compensation:
Overnight Schedule:
- Some shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
- Other shifts: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
- Schedule may vary based on operational needs.
- Weekend and holiday availability may be required.
