About the job Security Technician II - Sioux Falls, SD
The Security Technician II role in the Sioux Falls, SD location and is responsible for performing advanced installation, testing, and commissioning of security solutions. This role builds upon the foundational skills of Technician I, requiring greater independence, advanced troubleshooting, and mentorship of junior staff. The Technician II demonstrates a higher level of technical proficiency, professionalism, and project awareness while supporting project managers, superintendents, and customers to ensure successful system implementation. The salary range for this position is between $25/hr to $35/hr commensurate on relevant education, experience, and other job-related factors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform installation tasks for security projects, including (but not limited to): pulling cable, installing connectors, wiring and mounting devices, and metal fabrication.
Conduct point-to-point testing to verify system functionality.
Apply advanced troubleshooting for electrical circuits and system issues.
Demonstrate proficiency in field and headend terminations for all systems related to security installations.
Mentor and support Installer I and Security Technician I team members.
Communicate daily jobsite status updates to Project Manager or Superintendent.
Work with manufacturers to initiate Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) as needed.
Review equipment lists with customers upon delivery and ensure accuracy.
Mark up engineered drawings to reflect site changes and completed tasks.
Apply intermediate computer and networking skills, including:
Email and MS Office Suite
Company applications (Vista, Labor Chart, etc.)
Understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, servers, and basic networking concepts
Maintain safety, organization, and professionalism on all job sites.
Support commissioning activities and verify system performance to customer requirements.
Participate in jobsite safety meetings and toolbox talks.
Consistently maintain punctuality and reliability.
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and project leadership.
Accurately complete timesheets and required reporting.
Demonstrate professionalism in daily interactions with colleagues and clients.
Apply computer knowledge to company applications including Email, Vista, and Labor Chart.
Accurately manage and submit documentation related to work performed.
Fire alarm experience is a plus.
Overnight travel as required.
