Position Details

Position Details:

• While hauling for Scholastic driver will be hauling book displays to schools in southern, central, and northern CA

• Driver will operate in a 250 mile radius of Baldwin Park, CA for local routes

• Driver will operate in a 400-600 mile radius delivering to Northern and Central CA for overnight routes

• Driver will utilize liftgate trailers and will unload product on roller carts

• Driver will unload an average of 3-12 cases/displays per stop

• Trailers can be loaded with as many as 44 cases/display. Pup trailers can be loaded with as many as 30 cases

• During summer months driver will be required to unload with a pallet jack at least twice per week when they are supporting the Scholastic Education Rescue Project

• Average weight of book displays is 300lb-500lbs

• 18 weeks out of the year the driver will be outsourced to other DCS/JBI accounts

• Occurs while school is out for winter/summer breaks

• Outsource work will be mostly local, but driver must be willing to help regional accounts as needed

• Regional work may require a driver to be out 3-5 nights. Driver will be put in a hotel for layovers

Special Requirements:

• Driver must be comfortable with close quarters maneuvering/backing as school locations vary in size
• Driver will be interacting with school staff/children so must have a professional demeanor and good customer service skills
• Very physically demanding

Truck Info:

• Automatic day cabs
• Trucks are assigned
• Trucks must remain at the account for time off
• Driver must provide all transportation to and from work

This role is paid at an hourly rate for all hours worked and an activity-based payment calculated using the formula, Activity Based Total - Hourly Pay = Activity Based Payment Amount, to reward drivers for their commitment to delivering excellence and increase income based on individual efforts.
