Semiconductor Equipment Support Technician

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Semiconductor Equipment Support Technician in Manhattan Beach, California for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and support semiconductor fabrication equipment in a cleanroom production and R&D environment.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree.

• 2+ years of experience in equipment maintenance, a technical trade, or a related technical environment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude.

• Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.

• Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, vacuum, pneumatic, and equipment-control systems.

• Familiarity with vacuum pumps and gas systems.

• Familiarity with cleanroom operations and protocols.

• Ability to work independently in a research-driven environment with frequent equipment changeovers.

• Ability to accurately document maintenance activities, equipment downtime, and parts usage.

• U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Skills

• Associate degree or technical training in Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related discipline.

• Experience maintaining semiconductor fabrication equipment.

• Experience with semiconductor tools such as:

  • Steppers

  • Evaporators

  • Sputtering systems

  • Ion implanters

  • Etchers

  • Coaters/developers

  • Dicing saws

• Experience with legacy semiconductor equipment and both wet and dry processes.

• Experience in low-volume, high-mix R&D or prototype manufacturing environments.

• Understanding of front-end and back-end semiconductor fabrication processes.

• Familiarity with safety protocols involving gases, chemicals, and high-voltage equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on front-end and back-end semiconductor fabrication equipment.

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, vacuum, pneumatic, and basic software/control issues.

• Diagnose and resolve equipment problems affecting production and R&D operations.

• Partner with process engineers, researchers, and equipment owners to restore equipment functionality.

• Support equipment installations, upgrades, and decommissioning activities.

• Coordinate with equipment vendors and facilities teams when needed.

• Record maintenance activities, downtime events, and parts usage in internal tracking systems.

• Maintain and order critical spare parts, consumables, and safety components.

• Ensure equipment meets cleanroom, safety, cleanliness, and calibration requirements.

• Support continuous-improvement projects focused on increasing equipment uptime and reducing maintenance cycles.

Work Schedule / Shift

• 100% onsite in Manhattan Beach, California

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Pay

• $47.67 per hour
