The Senior Academic Affairs Analyst is a member of the School of Medicine's Academic Personnel team and provides comprehensive academic personnel support and consultation to faculty, department leadership, and academic administrators. The position independently manages and advises on complex academic appointments, reviews, recruitments, compensation matters, faculty dossiers, visa-related employment issues, and Health Sciences Compensation Plan (HSCP) activities. The incumbent interprets and applies University, campus, School of Medicine, and collective bargaining policies; counsels faculty and academic leadership; identifies and resolves compliance or procedural issues; and coordinates academic personnel actions from initiation through completion. The position also supports academic recruitment and onboarding, maintains personnel data and reports, develops procedures and training, and contributes to process improvements that advance the School of Medicine's academic mission. The salary range for this position is $75,900.00 - $137,300.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $106,600.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. This is a hybrid position consisting of three days on-site at the UCR main campus and two days remote. \n \nAnalyzes merit and promotion cases for faculty.Facilitates/manages the academic review processes, identifying issues relating to policy and compensation.Provides strategic advice and counsel to unit head by analyzing and interpreting system-wide and organization policies, collective bargaining agreements, academic personnel procedures and practices.Counsels Senate and non/Senate faculty and other academic staff concerning moderate to complex work-related problems.Participate in the development of school and campus policies, procedures and guidelines with regard to academic personnel. Serves on ad hoc work groups and task forces. Composes correspondence on behalf of senior administrators. Other duties as assigned.Assists in the development of a detailed database to track all School of Medicine academic employees (e.g., tracking eligibility lists, merits and promotions, appointments, layoffs and reductions in time, and separations); manipulates database and creates detailed reports on request for information from a variety of customers. Coordinates information for submission to School of Medicine's website administrator, ensuring information is accurate, appropriate and in the proper format.Analyzes and interprets guidelines and policies to provide advice and counsel to unit clients on issues such as compensation, work-eligibility (visa) matters such as H1-B processing or PR application, and benefits considerations.Coordinates the academic search process, including placement of ads, drafting of search plans, and conducting the initial screening of materials submitted.Identifies and customizes training needs for diverse constituencies.\n \nRequires in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.Excellent critical and innovative thinking to address complex issues and present nuanced analyses.Thorough knowledge of systemwide and organization policies, union contracts, procedures and practices that govern academic HR administration.Thorough knowledge of organization and college goals, priorities and values and the legal and human implications of decisions.Ability to analyze complex management issues; develop project scope and solutions, give professional advice to senior officials and make critical decisions regarding personnel.Knowledge of trends in academia, especially in areas of academic planning, human resource management and administration.Working knowledge of academic personnel dossier preparation.Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with academic administrators, faculty, staff, co-workers and students, and to interact with individuals from the community at large.Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality.Advanced writing skills to compose clear, concise and grammatically correct correspondence, minutes and reports.
