Key Responsibilities for the Senior Accountant



  • Lead full-cycle accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes as the Senior Accountant.

  • Review accounting transactions and ensure accuracy and compliance in the Senior Accountant role.

  • Oversee weekly payment processing, cash transfers, employee reimbursements, and corporate credit card activity as the Senior Accountant.

  • Manage affiliate receivables and coordinate quarterly rebill processes as the Senior Accountant.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports while supporting organizational reporting requirements.

  • Support audit activities, tax return preparation, 1099 reporting, and audit documentation as the Senior Accountant.

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to accounting staff while serving as a trusted Senior Accountant resource.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiencies, and automation initiatives as the Senior Accountant.


Qualifications for the Senior Accountant



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required for the Senior Accountant position.

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required for the Senior Accountant.

  • Minimum of 2 years of nonprofit accounting experience preferred for the Senior Accountant.

  • Prior experience reviewing or overseeing the work of others is valuable for the Senior Accountant role.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards is essential for the Senior Accountant.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with accounting systems are required for the Senior Accountant.

  • Experience with financial reporting, account reconciliations, audits, and tax compliance activities is expected of the Senior Accountant.

  • The ideal Senior Accountant will possess strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
