You will be an essential member of our finance team based in our Tokyo Office, working closely with finance managers, client service leaders, and colleagues across both finance and other administrative functions.
You will work alongside client service teams and industry leadership to manage the economics of our client engagements throughout the full engagement lifecycle-from budgeting and financial set-up to monthly monitoring of revenue and expenses, to billing and accounts receivable. You will also provide variance analysis, forecasting, and make recommendations to drive both engagement and office's financial performance.
In addition, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: ensuring compliance with firm finance policies and local statutory requirements; collaborating with client procurement and finance teams on deliverable acceptance, resolving issues, and providing impact calculations or reconciliations to enable billing while supporting local Finance teams and the Corporate Tax team with engagement lifecycle (ELC) aspects of internal, statutory, tax, and audit requirements.
You will help in reviewing contract commercial terms and guiding client service teams through the exception approval process when needed.
As part of the broader team, you will help to identify areas of opportunities and work closely with leadership to lead/assist with the design and implementation of new financial processes and systems, and streamline existing procedures as needed.
Your role plays a key role in ensuring compliance with firm finance policies. You will be positioned to act as a resource for team members, providing training, coaching and support. Additionally, you will provide ad-hoc analyses and local/regional/global special project support as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CA, or equivalent is a strong advantage
- 5+ years of experience in finance and/or accounting, preferably in a professional services environment
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skill, with the ability to interpret financial information and translate it into clear actions
- Strong customer-service mindset, with a focus on responsiveness, accuracy, and high-quality support to internal stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, influence effectively, and manage the needs of different stakeholders, including senior leaders
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and navigate ambiguity with minimal oversight
- High attention to detail, with a disciplined approach to accuracy, follow-through, and meeting deadlines
- Ability to work independently and proactively, with an entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to take ownership
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
