  • Review and administer retainage calculations, retainage releases, and retainage draw requests to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements along with supporting schedules and reporting packages.
  • Monitor project costs, job cost reports, budgets, commitments, change orders, and forecasts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with lenders, developers, contractors, consultants, auditors, and ownership groups regarding funding requirements and project financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, HUD regulations, lender requirements, internal controls, and audit standards.
  • Identify and implement process improvements while mentoring and developing accounting staff to enhance operational effectiveness.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience in construction accounting.
  • Proven experience managing the full construction draw process for lender-funded construction and development projects.
  • Strong knowledge of retainage accounting, construction funding structures, project closeouts, and cost certification reporting.
  • Experience working with HUD-financed projects and HUD compliance requirements.
  • Solid understanding of construction job costing, project accounting, budgeting, commitments, forecasting, and financial statement preparation.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards, with experience supporting audits and compliance activities.
  • Experience with construction accounting software and ERP systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to supervise, mentor, and develop accounting professionals.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
