Overview
We’re partnered with a growing SaaS company looking to bring on a hands-on accounting professional to take ownership of the full accounting function. This role sits close to leadership and will oversee everything from transactional accounting through financial reporting, with a strong focus on revenue recognition and deferred revenue.
This is a high-impact role for someone who’s comfortable operating in a lean environment and stepping in wherever needed.
What You’ll Own
- Owned the full month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Managed revenue accounting, including deferred revenue schedules and ASC 606 recognition
- Oversaw and reviewed day-to-day operational accounting (AP, AR, billing, cash application), stepping in to process when needed
- Ensured accuracy of customer billing, collections activity, and revenue tie-outs between subledger and GL
- Maintained the general ledger and supporting schedules across all balance sheet accounts
- Prepared financial statements and provided visibility into performance and cash
- Partnered with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis
- Supported audits and worked with external accountants/tax providers
- Identified process gaps and implemented improvements, including automation where possible
What We’re Looking For
- 5–10 years of accounting experience, ideally within SaaS or subscription-based environments
- Strong experience with deferred revenue and ASC 606
- Proven ability to own the close and oversee operational accounting in a small company environment
- Comfortable being both strategic and tactical (reviewing work one minute, processing it the next)
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and ideally exposure to billing platforms
- Strong attention to detail with a process improvement mindset
- CPA or public accounting background is a plus
