Job Description: This role will apply generally accepted principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
Examples Of Duties
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, equities, revenues and expenditures, and prepares balance sheets, income statements, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected City financial position for other managers.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation as it relates to the general ledger account balances for all Housing and Community Development Funds for internal and external audits.
- Assists auditors in the audit process and provides additional information requested.
- Research and resolves any discrepancies for all assigned funds/accounts.
- Compiles information for CDBG, HOME and HOPWA grants and other reimbursements related to assigned funds.
- Records revenue and expenditures related to assigned Housing and Community Development funds.
- Conducts yearly financial monitoring of grant sub-recipients.
- Uses computerized accounting systems to maintain funds and prepare general ledger and accounting reports.
- Participates in special projects when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in accounting or a related field; and two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Other Necessary Requirements
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needs.
