Job Description

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Senior Accountant for a long-term role with a plastics manufacturer located in Tigard, OR.  The Senior Accountant is a key leadership role, responsible for the full scope of day-to-day, month-end, quarterly, and year end accounting operations for the company. This role oversees a small accounting department with responsibilities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accuracy, financial reporting, reconciliations, cash management, and internal controls. The Senior Accountant partners closely with the Company President, Accounting Manager, and Senior Managers on providing financial insights, improve processes, and ensures accurate financial. reporting. The ideal candidate is a hands-on high level accounting professional with manufacturing experience, strong business acumen, and the ability to understand how accounting impacts operational performance.

 

Pay: $95,000-$100,000/yr

 

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

? Oversee and manage the full accounts payable and accounts receivable cycles, ensuring timely, accurate processing and reconciliation utilizing MRP software and QuickBooks.

? Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

? Prepare accurate and timely financial statements including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statements for review by leadership and CPA.

? Maintain the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the general ledger and all supporting accounting records.

? Perform account reconciliations for inventory, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities.

? Monitor and report on company cash flow, including forecasting to support operational and strategic decision-making.

? Support the annual forecasting process.

? Support inventory accounting, cost accounting, and manufacturing-related transactions.

? Analyze financial results and identify trends, risks, and opportunities and communicate key findings to leadership.

? Assist with job costing, standard costing, and margin analysis to support pricing and operational decisions.

? Develop, document, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.

? Coordinate with the company's outside CPA firm to provide accurate financial records and supporting documentation for tax planning and filings (tax preparation and filings are managed externally by the CPA).

? Support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and documentation as required.

? Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable accounting standards (GAAP).

? Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy across the accounting function.

? Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to accounting support staff as applicable.

? Communicate effectively and professionally with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders.

? Maintain organized, audit-ready filing systems for all supporting accounting documentation.

 

 

Senior Accountant Qualifications:

? Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.

? At least 5 years of senior accounting experience and skills; with a strong understanding of inventory and manufacturing accounting principles.

? Near CFO level strategic financial mindset – able to see past, present, and future financial solutions and proactively use them to bring the company to the next level; more of a controller who also brings a higher level of financial planning acumen.

? Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel and MRP/ERP systems.

? Solid working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting principles.

? Proven experience managing month, quarter, and year-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

? Experience partnering with outside CPA firms or auditors preferred.
