Our client, a growing manufacturer and supplier of health, wellness products, is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their team in Chula Vista, CA. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records while supporting month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, sales tax compliance, intercompany accounting, and cash management activities. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to contribute to a dynamic manufacturing, distribution, and e-commerce organization.

Key Responsibilities
Month-End & Period-End Close

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Maintain close calendars and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Prepare journal entries, supporting schedules, and close documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Ensure all reconciliations are completed accurately and within deadline.

Balance Sheet & General Ledger Reconciliations

• Perform month-end reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.
• Review and post intercompany transactions.
• Support external audits and management reporting requirements.
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and complete general ledger records.

Bank Reconciliations & Cash Management

• Perform comprehensive monthly bank reconciliations.
• Investigate unusual transactions and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor outstanding checks and aging reconciling items.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and supporting schedules.
• Escalate exceptions and cash management concerns as appropriate.

Sales Tax Compliance & Filings

• Prepare and file sales tax returns across multiple states.
• Maintain filing calendars and ensure timely submissions.
• Review transaction coding for sales tax accuracy.
• Respond to state tax inquiries and compliance requests.
• Stay current on changing sales tax regulations and nexus requirements.

Accounts Payable Review & Approval (Temporary Support)

• Review and approve invoices for compliance with company policy, contract terms, and proper account coding.
• Partner with the AP Manager to resolve vendor discrepancies and payment issues.
• Provide guidance on invoice processing and procedural questions.
• Support foreign exchange transactions and related accounting activities.
• Review and reconcile intercompany transactions as needed.

Qualifications
Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, accruals, and month-end close.
• Experience performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience working with ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred

• Experience with Acumatica ERP.
• Knowledge of multi-state sales tax compliance and filings.
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, supplements, health & wellness, or e-commerce environments.
• Experience with foreign currency transactions.
