Compensation:

Salary Range: $41.95 - $61.94 / hour

 

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range.

Responsibilities:

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant performs advanced professional accounting work involving complex financial analysis, technical accounting, financial reporting, audit coordination, and the interpretation of accounting principles requiring a high degree of independent judgment. The Senior Accountant serves as a technical accounting resource and performs complex accounting assignments involving financial reporting, technical accounting research, audit coordination, and organizational compliance requirements.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Supports the preparation of consolidated financial statements, including intercompany transactions and related disclosures for nonprofit and for-profit entities.
2. Assumes responsibility for assigned nonprofit and for-profit entities, including financial statement preparation and related accounting activities.
3. Analyzes complex financial transactions and determines appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and organizational policies.
4. Researches, documents, and recommends accounting treatment for complex or non-routine transactions.
5. Leads assigned month-end and year-end close activities and prepares related financial reporting schedules.
6. Performs advanced variance, trend, and operational analyses and communicates findings to management.
7. Coordinates responses to internal and external audit requests, prepares audit schedules, and serves as a primary accounting contact during audit engagements.
8. Evaluates accounting processes and recommends process improvements and internal control enhancements.
9. Serves as a technical accounting resource for accounting and financial reporting matters.
10. Supports the preparation of regulatory, tax grant, and financial reporting workpapers.
11. Participates in cross-functional organizational initiatives and special projects.
12. Communicates complex accounting matters to non-accounting stakeholders.
13. Develops accounting procedures and assists with the implementation of new accounting standards and reporting requirements.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Five (5) years of experience of progressively responsible accounting experience
• Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills

Preferred:

• Experience in a healthcare organization
• Experience in public accounting
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Master of Business Administration (MBA)
• Experience with nonprofit and for-profit entities
