With more than 420 locally led hospitals and over 11,000 team members nationwide, we offer:

  • Local autonomy with national support
  • Career mobility and development opportunities
  • A collaborative, inclusive environment where your wellbeing comes first

You care for pets. We care for you.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the company's financial reporting and accounting operations. This role will play a key part in the month-end close process, preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, and coordination of external audit activities, assisting with financial reporting and process improvements.

The ideal candidate has 2–4+ years of combined public and / or private industry experience, a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This individual should be comfortable managing multiple priorities, identifying accounting issues, and improving processes in a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform key activities within the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account analyses.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring reconciling items are investigated and resolved promptly.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting documentation in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
  • Analyze financial results, account fluctuations, and variances, and communicate findings to accounting and finance leadership.
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting.
  • Coordinate with external auditors by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to audit requests.
  • Assist with annual financial statement audits and other compliance-related reviews.
  • Evaluate existing accounting procedures and recommend improvements to strengthen controls, increase accuracy, and improve close efficiency.
  • Assist with the documentation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Partner with other departments to resolve accounting matters and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Support special projects, system implementations, and other accounting initiatives as needed.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 2–4+ years of combined public and / or private accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
  • Experience with financial reporting and external audits (including preparing audit documentation).
  • Demonstrated experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience with process improvement or accounting automation initiatives.
