Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS) is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to join our Housing team. This is a (hybrid) role.

This is more than a job!  It’s an opportunity to lead financial operations within a mission-driven organization. In this role, you will be a leader in managing the accounting for our properties under asset management, which encompasses approximately 235 properties across the US.  You will play a pivotal role in setting financial procedures and policy and communicating to our 3rd party partners.

Location: 1660 Duke St, Alexandria, VA 22314Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (Hybrid)Salary Range: $104,000-$117,000

What You Bring (Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or finance.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in accounting field, affordable housing,
  • LIHTC and HUD experience preferred with experience supervising.
  • Real Page accounting experience
  • Property Accounting experience working in affordable housing, with various subsidies. 

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and special financial projects as assigned by leadership.
  • Supervise, direct and manage a team.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party accounting/finance personnel; provide guidance on accounting, finance and reporting matters in relation to our housing entities.
  • Accurate interpretation of financial information.
  • Timely responses to requests for assistance.
  • Provide departmental assistance with questions related to general ledger, AP, AR, budgets to actuals report, and other accounting/finance related matters.

Support Housing in overseeing the following accounting/finance functions:

  • Oversee Accounts Receivables related to Housing.

Support Housing in overseeing the transition of projects from construction to operations as well as change in management/accounting firm of housing entities:

  • Meet with appropriate team members (Housing Development Directors, Director of Asset Management, Senior Asset Managers, Senior Financial Analyst, Director of Housing Management, Affiliates, and 3rd party agents/accounting firms) to discuss steps to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Manage the coordination of accounting setup with 3rd party agents/accounting firms.
