Assistant Controller Nashville, TN | HybridAbout the Opportunity An established and growing Nashville organization is looking to add a Senior Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to its finance leadership team. This role offers broad exposure across the accounting function, including financial reporting, revenue recognition, process improvement, compliance, and automation initiatives.Reporting to executive finance leadership, you'll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting, strengthening accounting processes, and supporting strategic initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with operational improvements and cross-functional collaboration.What You'll Do Oversee key aspects of the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activitiesSupport revenue recognition accounting under ASC 606, including contract review, deferred revenue reconciliations, and revenue validationMaintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal documentationPrepare and review monthly sales commission calculationsAssist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and operational reporting for leadershipSupport the annual financial statement audit and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisorsAssist with sales tax filings, business registrations, and ongoing tax compliance activitiesPartner with Human Resources to support payroll tax registrations and compliance requirementsCollaborate with the Controller and CFO on accounting system enhancements, automation projects, and process optimization initiativesWhat We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance5+ years of progressive accounting experience in either public accounting or a corporate accounting environmentStrong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processesExperience with revenue recognition principles, including ASC 606, is preferredNetSuite experience is a plus, along with advanced Excel skills and exposure to AI or automation toolsExcellent analytical, organizational, and communication skillsComfortable navigating changing priorities while maintaining attention to detailDemonstrated ability to streamline accounting processes and identify opportunities for greater efficiencySelf-motivated team player who can work independently while collaborating effectively across departmentsWhy This Role?
