Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Actuarial Analyst to join our team, focusing on risk monitoring, profitability analysis, and other key actuarial functions. This role involves conducting in-depth reviews of insurance product profitability, assessing portfolio risk, and working closely with various teams to support sound underwriting and pricing decisions. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical actuarial skills, analytical expertise, and experience within the general insurance industry, particularly in Property & Casualty (P&C).
Key Responsibilities
Risk Monitoring & Assessment:
Analyze insurance portfolio risk exposures, ensuring they align with the company's risk tolerance and regulatory requirements.
Develop risk monitoring tools and dashboards to track key metrics, trends, and emerging risks within the insurance portfolio.
Support rate monitoring activities to ensure correct implementation of rate change, impact analysis, identify any deviations.
Support risk management and mitigation strategies by providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
Profitability Analysis:
Conduct profitability reviews on various insurance products, lines of business, and portfolios, identifying opportunities for improvements.
Evaluate and analyze the performance of different risk segments, ensuring adequate pricing and optimal product profitability.
Work with underwriting and pricing teams to adjust models and assumptions based on historical performance and market trends.
Actuarial Modeling & Pricing Support:
Build and enhance actuarial models to forecast risk, calculate reserves, and assess overall profitability.
Collaborate with pricing actuaries and product managers to implement rate changes and pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with profitability.
Use predictive modeling techniques to assist in pricing decisions and support underwriting guidelines.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
Support regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines, including actuarial standards of practice.
Contribute to rate filings and other actuarial documentation required by state insurance departments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with underwriting, finance, and data analytics teams to align on product goals and refine risk management strategies.
Present findings to senior leadership, translating complex actuarial concepts into actionable insights.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; completion of actuarial exams with ASA or FSA designation preferred.
5+ years of actuarial experience in the insurance industry, ideally within P&C.
Proven expertise in risk assessment, monitoring, and profitability review.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in actuarial modeling software (e.g., R, SAS, Python) and Excel.
Familiarity with insurance regulations, rate filings, and compliance requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
