Company Description
We're representing a Series A AI company transforming how millions of creators produce video content. Their browser-based platform combines professional video editing with cutting-edge generative AI, allowing users to create, edit, and enhance videos using natural language instead of traditional editing workflows.
Since launching in 2017, more than 30 million videos have been created on the platform. Backed by leading investors including Shasta Ventures and CRV, the company is building the next generation of prompt-to-edit creative software and is seeking an experienced AI Product Engineer to help shape the future of AI-powered content creation.
What You Will Do
Design, build, and launch production-ready full-stack features using React, TypeScript, Node.js, and Python.
Develop and optimize LLM-powered workflows that automate complex video editing and creative tasks.
Build prompt-to-interface experiences that enable users to create and edit visual content through natural language.
Design evaluation frameworks for non-deterministic AI systems, measuring quality, reliability, and user outcomes.
Prototype and integrate the latest foundation models, multimodal AI systems, and generative media technologies into production.
Improve agent architectures through tool calling, context management, prompt engineering, and iterative experimentation.
Partner closely with product, design, and growth teams to deliver AI experiences that delight creators.
Monitor production AI systems, analyze performance, and continuously improve model quality and user experience.
Contribute across the entire product stack, balancing frontend polish with scalable backend architecture.
Help define the technical direction of one of the industry's leading AI-native creative platforms.
Ideal Background
4–8 years of production-level full-stack software engineering experience.
Proven experience shipping LLM-powered products used by real customers in production.
Experience designing and owning evaluation systems for AI applications, including experimentation and quality measurement.
Strong proficiency with React, TypeScript, and modern web application architecture.
Experience building backend services using Node.js, Python, and modern API frameworks.
Familiarity with agent architectures, tool calling, prompt engineering, and context management.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical discipline from a U.S.-based university.
Demonstrated career progression with increasing ownership and technical leadership.
Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for working in a collaborative startup environment.
Preferred
Experience building prompt-to-interface products or AI-first creative applications.
Background at AI-native product companies such as Figma, Cursor, Replit, Perplexity, Jasper, Vercel, Stripe, or similar organizations.
Experience with video processing, FFmpeg, media pipelines, or multimedia applications.
Strong understanding of modern LLM orchestration, evaluation methodologies, and production AI systems.
Experience building products for creators, designers, or enterprise SaaS customers.
Startup experience with significant ownership over product direction and technical decisions.
Passion for democratizing creativity through AI-powered software.
Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with minimal process and high autonomy.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary: $200,000–$250,000.
Competitive equity package.
Hybrid schedule with Tuesday through Thursday onsite in San Francisco.
Opportunity to help build one of the world's most widely used AI-powered video creation platforms.
Significant ownership over production AI systems serving millions of creators.
Small, highly collaborative engineering team where every engineer has meaningful product impact.
Work at the intersection of generative AI, creative software, and large-scale consumer applications.
