    Description

    Sr. Analytics Engineer

    Summary

    Our client is seeking a Sr. Analytics Engineer to serve as the Technical Lead and Product Owner for their data platform. This is a hands-on, senior IC role covering pipeline engineering, governance, and BI from ingestion through the semantic layer and executive dashboards.

    Responsibilities

    • Own end-to-end data pipelines across an AWS stack (Step Functions, Glue, Lambda, Snowflake, dbt).
    • Maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) for business continuity and disaster recovery.
    • Maintain enterprise data model and data dictionary across sources.
    • Enforce data governance and security best practices in Snowflake (RBAC, masking, least-privilege).
    • Design systems of record with proper versioning and audit history.
    • Own the database design for AI/ML infrastructure including vector databases.
    • Design and maintain a semantic layer for natural language data discovery.
    • Own the executive and operational BI dashboards.
    • Support actuarial and advanced analytics pipelines.
    • Mentor junior data team members.

    Requirements

    • Analytics/Data Engineering experience with demonstrated growth in scope.
    • Hands-on dbt experience at scale.
    • Strong Snowflake proficiency (security, access, performance).
    • Hands-on AWS Data Services experience (Glue, Step Functions, S3, Lambda).
    • Strong SQL and Python skills.
    • Experience owning a BI roadmap and dashboards for executive/operational audiences.
    • Experience with enterprise data models and semantic layers in multi-source environments.
    • Expertise in data governance and privacy/compliance.
    • Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform or similar).
    • Strong communication skills; comfortable with ambiguity in a small, cross-functional team.

    Preferred

    • Insurance/financial services experience.
    • Actuarial data workflow exposure.
    • Data observability tooling experience.
    • Experience with Distributed Compute Frameworks (Spark via Glue/EMR).
    • AI/ML pipeline exposure.
    • Experience transitioning platform ownership from consultants to in-house.

    This is a Remote, Direct Hire opportunity with our Topeka, KS client.
