A bit about us:We are seeking an experienced Senior Asset Manager to oversee a portfolio of affordable housing communities and support the long-term financial, operational, and compliance performance of the assets. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to development, property management, accounting, and executive leadership teams, ensuring properties achieve financial objectives while fulfilling mission-driven housing goals.
The ideal candidate brings substantial experience within LIHTC affordable housing development and asset management, with a strong understanding of multifamily operations, compliance requirements, capital planning, partnership reporting, and property performance optimization. Experience managing assets through development, lease-up, stabilization, and ongoing operations is highly desired.

Job DetailsKey Responsibilities:
Portfolio Asset Management
- Oversee the financial and operational performance of a diverse portfolio of affordable and workforce housing properties.
- Analyze property-level operating statements, budgets, forecasts, occupancy trends, and key performance indicators.
- Identify opportunities to improve asset value, cash flow, operating efficiency, and resident outcomes.
- Monitor portfolio risks and develop strategic action plans to address underperforming assets.
Affordable Housing Development Support
- Partner closely with development teams throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-development through stabilization.
- Participate in underwriting reviews, financing analyses, and development projections for new affordable housing projects.
- Evaluate development assumptions, operating budgets, reserve requirements, and long-term asset strategies.
- Assist with transitions from construction completion to operational management.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Review monthly and quarterly financial reports to assess property performance against budgets and pro forma expectations.
- Prepare portfolio analyses and executive-level reporting for senior leadership, lenders, investors, and ownership entities.
- Monitor debt compliance, partnership agreements, reserve balances, and financial covenants.
- Support refinancing, recapitalization, acquisition, and disposition initiatives.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure compliance with affordable housing regulations, including LIHTC, HUD, HOME, CDBG, Section 8, and other federal, state, and local programs.
- Partner with compliance and property management teams to address audit findings, physical inspections, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Monitor affordability restrictions and ensure properties remain in compliance throughout the asset lifecycle.
Capital Planning & Preservation
- Develop and oversee capital improvement plans, rehabilitation strategies, and reserve utilization.
- Coordinate with construction, facilities, and operations teams on major capital projects.
- Support long-term portfolio preservation strategies, including tax credit re-syndications and redevelopment initiatives.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a primary liaison to property management companies, development partners, investors, lenders, and public agencies.
- Present asset performance, risks, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, finance, development, legal, and operations teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business, Accounting, Urban Planning, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in affordable housing asset management, real estate development, multifamily finance, or related fields.
- Deep understanding of LIHTC transactions, affordable housing financing structures, and multifamily operations.
- Experience managing affordable housing properties through development, lease-up, stabilization, and ongoing operations.
- Strong financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Urban Planning, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Experience with tax credit syndicators, housing authorities, and public-private partnerships.
- Background in acquisitions, recapitalizations, re-syndications, or preservation transactions.
- Familiarity with Yardi, RealPage, MRI, or similar property management and reporting systems.
- Experience overseeing portfolios exceeding 1,000 affordable housing units.
