The Team

The HR Compliance & Policy team partners with A&M's Legal, Learning & Development, and HR colleagues to keep the firm's policies and practices compliant in a changing regulatory landscape. We work closely with leadership and business stakeholders to identify compliance gaps early, translate complex legal requirements into clear, practical guidance, and support the consistent application of policy across the firm. The team operates in a collaborative environment where analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate and solve problems are essential

How you will contribute

The Senior Associate, Compliance & Policy role focuses on the development, maintenance, and enhancement of HR policies, ensuring compliance with U.S. laws and regulations, and mitigating organizational risks. The ideal candidate will serve as a strategic compliance partner, proactively addressing compliance gaps and supporting the organization in navigating the complex regulatory landscape.

  • Monitor, record, and document changes in state/province and federal laws and regulations, ensuring policies remain current and compliant.
  • Oversee the management of onboarding and offboarding documents to ensure compliance and consistency.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Continuously monitor new employment laws and regulations, flagging changes that may impact the organization.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to interpret and apply laws and regulations to HR policies and practices.
  • Partner with the Learning & Development (L&D) team to inform and implement new training requirements based on regulatory updates.

Risk Mitigation

  • Address compliance risks related to hiring practices, benefits administration, payroll, and other HR functions.
  • Identify and address compliance gaps, working proactively to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to legal and organizational standards.
  • Act as a strategic compliance partner, providing guidance and recommendations to leadership on compliance-related matters.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) are a plus.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in HR policy development, compliance, and risk management, preferably in a U.S.-focused role.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and regulations at the state and federal levels.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear and concise policies and documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Key Competencies:

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to anticipate compliance challenges and proactively develop solutions.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with legal teams, L&D, and other stakeholders.
