Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate Research Scientist I to support analytical testing, development, and process characterization activities within a Bioanalytics and Analytical Operations laboratory in Research Triangle Park, NC.

This is a hands-on laboratory position ideal for a scientist with strong analytical testing experience, proficiency with modern laboratory instrumentation, and a solid understanding of cGXP practices.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing analytical testing independently, troubleshooting unexpected results, and maintaining accurate laboratory documentation in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing using techniques including Karl Fischer moisture analysis, coagulation assays, enzymatic assays, and immunoassays.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain analytical instrumentation, including coulometric titrators, coagulation analyzers, immunonephelometers, and plate readers.
• Execute laboratory testing in compliance with cGXP standards, established procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Apply proper pipetting techniques, including volumetric, positive displacement, and reverse pipetting.
• Accurately document laboratory activities, observations, and results using laboratory notebooks and LIMS.
• Identify atypical or unexpected results, support investigations, and resolve analytical testing issues.
• Contribute to technical reports, method validation activities, and process characterization projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional scientific teams while managing laboratory responsibilities independently.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Toxicology, or a related scientific discipline with 3–4 years of relevant experience, OR
• Master's degree in a related scientific discipline with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Hands-on analytical testing experience in a cGXP-regulated laboratory environment.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting analytical laboratory instruments.
• Strong understanding of analytical testing principles and laboratory best practices.
• Excellent documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Karl Fischer moisture analysis.
• Hands-on experience performing coagulation assays, enzymatic assays, or immunoassays.
• Familiarity with analytical method validation and Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) activities.
• Experience with LIMS and electronic laboratory documentation.
• Background in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biologics, or other regulated laboratory environments.
