KPMG is currently seeking a BTS Senior Associate, Tax Accounting Methods to join our Accounting Methods and Credit Services practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with accounting method assessments, design, and implementation of projects involving income and expense recognition, capitalization, cost recovery, inventory, and other federal tax planning initiatives
  • Analyze client trial balances, general ledger data, fixed asset records, and other financial information to identify tax accounting method opportunities and support technical tax analyses
  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, including client interviews, data gathering, computations, technical analysis, and coordination of KPMG and client resources
  • Research federal tax law, IRS guidance, and accounting method developments and apply findings to client-specific facts and circumstances
  • Assist in drafting technical memoranda, accounting method change requests (Forms 3115), IRS ruling requests, responses to IRS inquiries, and other supporting documentation
  • Collaborate with engagement teams and leverage technology, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and support client service delivery
  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMGs respectful and courteous work environment

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of recent experience in accounting methods, business tax services, federal tax consulting, or a related technical tax role within a public accounting firm or corporate tax department
  • Masters degree in taxation from an accredited college/university is preferred; Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, finance, taxation, or a related field is required
  • Experience analyzing trial balances, general ledger detail, fixed asset records, inventories, and other financial data to identify tax planning opportunities and support technical tax analyses
  • Knowledge of accounting method principles related to income and expense recognition, capitalization, cost recovery, inventory, or other domestic tax consulting matters
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with data analytics, AI-enabled tools, and technology solutions used to support tax service delivery
  • Strong research, analytical, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to work directly with clients and engagement teams
