We're partnering with a leading organization seeking a temp Senior Benefits Finance Analyst 6-month contract with the intention to convert to a permanent position.

This is a highly visible role sitting at the intersection of Benefits and Finance, ideal for someone who can turn complex and financial data into actionable insights.

Description

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for U.S. health & welfare benefit programs.
  • Partner closely with Benefits, FP&A, Accounting, Payroll, Treasury, and other Finance teams.
  • Analyze healthcare and pharmacy spend, utilization, PEPM costs, and key financial trends.
  • Review actuarial projections, IBNR calculations, reserves, funding requirements, and stop-loss recoveries.
  • Monitor self-insured claims activity and identify emerging cost drivers and financial risks.
  • Own budget-to-actual analysis, accruals, reconciliations, and vendor invoice governance.
  • Evaluate vendor pricing, contractual guarantees, renewals, and overall financial performance.
  • Build financial models around benefit plan changes, healthcare costs, and long-term funding strategies.
  • Create dashboards and executive-level reporting that translate complex data into clear recommendations.
  • Support Form 5500 reporting, audits, financial controls, and benefits-related regulatory requirements.

Profile

5+ years of experience in benefits finance, healthcare finance, actuarial consulting, FP&A, compensation & benefits, or a related field.
Experience with benefits budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, or actuarial analysis.
Strong knowledge of healthcare and/or pharmacy financial data.
Understanding of self-insured health plans, IBNR, reserves, and healthcare funding strongly preferred.
Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, PivotTables, lookups, Power Query, reconciliations, and large-data analysis.
Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to present financial insights to senior stakeholders.
Familiarity with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and Form 5500 requirements is a plus.
