As a SeniorBilling Specialist, you will be an essential part of the corporate business support team. This position reports to the Billing Manager/Supervisor and is responsible for daily billing/interfacing of  charges as well as any manual charge entry functions assigned. Assists in training and development of billing department teammates. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Function as first-level contact and subject matter expert (SME) for the day to day billing operations.
  • Advise physician on any changes with CPT and ICD-9 coding to maximize reimbursements and minimize denials.
  • Assist in training teammates on department policies and procedures as well as billing operations.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of the billing/charge function.
  • Ensures daily, accurate billing/charge interface through electronic charge capture system or electronic health record, to practice management system.
  • Completes timely resolution of any charges submitted lacking necessary information to complete interface by contacting the practice, patient or provider:
    • missing demographic information
    • missing authorizations 
    • consent to treat
  • Timely completion of unbilled PTQ holds and error buckets in practice management system
  • Maintains strong knowledge of mental health billing guidelines
  • Act as a resource and provides guidance and/or training to RCM team as it relates to billing
  • Monitors delays in provider billing and PTQ unbilled and escalates issues as needed
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clinical personnel, teammates and Payor representatives and other key stakeholders
  • Responds to complex billing related questions and resolves escalated issues
  • Consistently meet or exceed the department productivity and quality standards and performance requirements
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
    • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years physician billing experience 
  • Self-starter; able to move own workflow along with minimal oversight
  • Accurate; detail oriented and able to meet tight turnaround times
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Ability to exercise initiative, judgment and decision making skills
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS word, excel outlook and database management and internet usage
  • 4-6 years of physician billing experience (Preferred)
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative or other billing certification (Preferred)

Actual compensation may vary based on licensure, experience, market-driven enhancements, and incentive opportunities available for this role.
