Senior Bridge Engineer PE - Structures Lead (DOT)

Our client, a respected multi-state transportation engineering consultancy, is planning for the future of its bridge and structures practice in central Iowa. They're looking for a senior bridge engineer to lead structures work locally, mentor engineers, and help grow the team.

Your impact:

- Lead structures work locally: mentoring staff, balancing workload, and owning QA/QC

- Serve as technical lead on bridges from culverts to complex multi-span concrete and steel girder structures

- Manage structures scope, schedule, and budget on multidisciplinary roadway and rail projects

- Act as primary client contact, supporting interviews, meetings, and public presentations

- Review submittals, answer RFIs, and support construction in the field

- Build fee estimates and staffing plans, and track project financials

- Drive proposals and pursuit strategy to grow the structures practice

- Grow into a broader leadership role as the Iowa structures team expands

You bring:

- BS in Civil or Structural Engineering (MS preferred)

- PE required; Iowa PE or able to get it within 6 months

- 10+ years of bridge and structural design on transportation projects

- Experience leading projects and mentoring or managing engineers

- Strong AASHTO knowledge; Iowa DOT experience strongly preferred (Nebraska or South Dakota DOT a plus)

- Advanced structural analysis and design software skills

- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
