Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer

Job Overview

The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer works collaboratively with the agile team and end users to develop reporting systems that provide accessible information for decision-making. They use the data platform and associated databases to solve organizational problems through reports, analysis, and data visualization.

The Senior BI Developer will also provide data warehouse expertise, with an emphasis on data design, access, usage, security, and quality of information assets.

Job Duties

• Design, develop, and manage reporting catalogs, including comparing new requests against existing inventory and making recommendations for adding or removing content.
• Integrate identified strategies across multiple reporting programs and projects, ensuring alignment with business strategies and management priorities.
• Facilitate the inclusion of multiple disparate data sources located in the data platform/data warehouse into the overall reporting framework.
• Collaborate with Principal Solutions Architects to ensure the data platform design and processes are optimally aligned with reporting tools for best performance and an enhanced end-user experience.
• Work collaboratively on project teams, systems and data analysis, design, development, integration, and enhancement activities, as well as related maintenance and complex production support.
• Assist in developing the project scope for multiple complex projects with support from the project team and serve as a project point of contact when necessary.
• Participate in functional, technical, and user acceptance testing efforts and resolve identified defects.
• Build and modify database tables and views, and optimize SQL queries and indexes.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of reporting best practices and standards.
• Build effective partnerships with coworkers and coordinate overall efforts to contribute to team, department, and organizational objectives.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in business intelligence, developing and managing reports and data sources.
• Demonstrated knowledge of developing reporting architecture, dashboards, and portals using Power BI.
• Detailed knowledge of business intelligence security and administration concepts with Power BI.
• Detailed knowledge of Power BI technology and an understanding of the Microsoft BI stack.
• Proficiency in advanced-level computations on Power BI datasets.
• Familiarity with MS SQL Server BI Stack tools and technologies, such as SSRS, SQL, Power Query, MDX, and DAX.
• Experience with AWS and Redshift databases.
• Experience writing and optimizing SQL.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex and technical information clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of data warehouse concepts and tools.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work within a project-based environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or commensurate years of related work experience.
