Job Summary
The Senior Buyer will report to the Procurement Segment Manager and support procurement activities for the Winsted and Branford facilities. This role is based primarily in Winsted, CT, with regular onsite support at the Branford facility. The Senior Buyer will execute procurement strategies to support Business Unit objectives, including security of supply, cost savings, process optimization, and supplier risk mitigation.

The overall objective of this role is to support production schedules while securing the best achievable value for supplies and services, in full compliance with company procedures and audit requirements.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Prepare requests for quotes (RFQs) and proposals based on plant requirements.
  • Review supplier quotations and perform cost analyses to determine best value based on price, schedule, quality, and supplier capability.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and lead times aligned with plant and business objectives.
  • Place purchase orders based on approved requisitions to support production, operations, and inventory needs.
  • Manage and maintain purchase orders, ensuring accurate pricing, charge account codes, and vendor commitment dates.
  • Monitor invoices on hold and coordinate resolution with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Partner with the Receiving department to reconcile shipping documentation and resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Shipping, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Accounts Payable, Facilities, and other departments to resolve plant issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all audit protocols and complete audit-related responsibilities as required.
  • Assist with onboarding new suppliers and setting up new items within procurement systems.
  • Ensure adherence to company procurement procedures for quality and financial audits.
  • Provide responsive, high-quality support to overall business operations.
  • Maintain a regular presence on the shop floor to support operational understanding and collaboration.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in Procurement, Finance, or Supply Chain.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite at the Branford, CT facility on a regular basis.
  • Willingness to frequently visit the shop floor to gain a thorough understanding of plant operations.

ITAR Requirement
This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Candidates must qualify as a U.S. person, defined as a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), political asylee, or refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ORACLE or similar enterprise business systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop metrics and reports across multiple data sets.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
