    Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Category Manager for a rapidly growing national organization providing essential products and services through a broad operational network. This is an onsite opportunity based in Houston, Texas.

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    This is a strategic procurement and category management leadership opportunity responsible for developing enterprise-wide sourcing strategies, optimizing supplier partnerships, and driving category performance across a multimillion-dollar portfolio. The Senior Category Manager will collaborate with cross-functional leaders to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and product offerings while identifying opportunities for innovation and long-term value creation. This role is ideal for a data-driven, relationship-focused professional who enjoys influencing business strategy and delivering measurable results.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and execute category strategies that optimize cost, supplier performance, product offerings, and long-term business value.
    • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and ongoing supplier relationship management.
    • Analyze spend, market trends, customer demand, inventory, and financial performance to guide category decisions and recommendations.
    • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation, process improvements, and operational efficiencies.
    • Present strategic recommendations and business cases to leadership while supporting enterprise procurement initiatives.
    • Monitor supplier performance, quality, compliance, and market developments to ensure continuous improvement across assigned categories.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience in category management, procurement, strategic sourcing, merchandising, supply chain, or supplier relationship management.
    • Strong negotiation, financial analysis, and data-driven decision-making skills.
    • Experience managing supplier portfolios, contracts, and complex sourcing initiatives.
    • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
    • Experience with ERP or procurement systems such as Coupa or similar platforms is preferred.

    This position offers a competitive base salary of $125,000 plus bonus eligibility.
