Davis & Floyd is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Site Design Team in our Columbia, SC office. Since 1954, we have built a reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions to our clients.
In this role, you will lead a collaborative team providing project consulting, site planning, design, permitting, and engineering services to a diverse client base. Responsibilities
Lead the development of project manuals and oversee the bidding process through award
Manage all aspects of site design, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, water and sewer systems, pump stations/force mains, erosion control, SWPPP, and technical reporting
Prepare construction cost estimates and support project bidding and construction administration
Provide technical guidance, problem-solving, and mentorship to engineers and technical staff
Review and prepare site designs, drawings, and technical/front-end specifications
Plan, coordinate, and manage daily project activities, schedules, budgets, and scope
Conduct pre-construction meetings and oversee submittals, pay requests, change orders, and construction-phase activities
Direct field efforts including surveys, testing, and construction engineering support
Serve as a primary client contact, managing communication and expectations
Ensure quality control and compliance with company standards and project requirements
Support business development through client meetings, presentations, and public engagement
Lead and facilitate meetings with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams
Effectively resolve complex or sensitive issues both internally and externally
Mentor and develop team members
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
Professional Engineer (PE) is required
Minimum of 10 years design experience in site development, grading, drainage, stormwater management, and permitting
Familiarity with federal, state, and local agency regulations
Experience managing a wide variety of site development projects, and working with clients
Ability to manage and communicate effectively with staff and clients
Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D, SEDCAD, and PCSWMM
