Job Description
The A1B Plant Control and Indication (PCI) unit at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is looking for an experienced engineer excited to take on the challenges associated with supporting the GERALD R. FORD class of aircraft carriers. The PCI unit, along with the IPS unit, focuses on the design, integration, testing, deployment, and support of electrical I&C systems for the FORD class. This position involves direct interaction with the Navy, shipyards, vendors, and customers. This is an excellent opportunity to work with mission-critical shipboard electrical systems and to make a significant impact on the technology that protects our country. The selected candidate will be expected to become a subject matter expert on the design, operation, and maintenance of their assigned system. The successful candidate's duties will include maintaining and implementing improvements to hardware and software system designs for various shipboard control systems, development and maintenance of procedures for equipment operation, troubleshooting instrumentation and control system issues, developing and performing equipment tests, performing detailed technical evaluations, and authoring technical reports. Duties will also include regular verbal and written communications with co-workers, management, and customers. The position supports the construction of new aircraft carriers as well as the operating fleet. As a senior engineer, the successful candidate will also be expected to become involved in wider initiatives in the I&C and plant operations community and to significantly contribute to our future I&C design.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

- Experience with the operations of naval nuclear propulsion plants.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills are highly desirable.
- Experience writing functional requirements.
- Experience writing formal correspondence

Pay Range
$95,700.00 - $149,600.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
