Procon now seeks a Senior Construction Manager for a long term opportunity in the Washington, DC area. The candidate will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to construction management, quality assurance, project controls, design/build, architecture and engineering, space management, facilities management, real estate, and leasing of complex construction projects. This role requires 10+ years of experience in construction management on projects for new construction, mechanical systems, renovations, upgrades or new fit-outs. This role is ideal for someone with experience in the A/E/C industry and has the ambition to become a future leader within Procon Consulting. This role will focus on project management and development centered around leading and managing teams and multiple projects. This role requires various skills and experience as listed below.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
- A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is required. Alternatively, 20 years of experience can be substituted for the degree requirement.
- 10 years of experience supporting construction management, quality assurance, scheduling, and contract administration on complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction documents, CPM scheduling, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and QA/QC processes.
- Familiarity with project management systems such as eBuilder/PMIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to review contractor reports, schedules, pay applications, and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and risk management.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Knowledge of safety standards, construction procedures, and federal/government project requirements preferred.
- Candidates with occupied renovation experience are preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Inspect and monitor on-site processes, procedures, and systems for compliance with construction drawings, security requirements, and code compliance.
- Lead construction management and owner’s representative duties across multiple projects.
- Oversee daily construction management activities including RFIs, submittals, schedules, change orders, quality control, and contractor compliance.
- Conduct site inspections to verify work is performed in accordance with contract documents, approved submittals, and safety requirements.
- Track project progress, risks, testing/inspection activities, and maintain project logs and documentation.
- Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and communicate action items with stakeholders.
- Review contractor schedules, pay applications, and change order proposals for accuracy and alignment with field progress.
- Monitor implementation of contractor quality control and safety programs to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Support procurement, project startup, closeout activities, and lifecycle planning including warranties, as-builts, and commissioning documentation.
- Coordinate with owners, contractors, design teams, commissioning agents, and third-party consultants to maintain project alignment and timely execution.
- Prepare reports, risk assessments, briefings, and Independent Government Estimates (IGEs) to support project oversight and decision-making.
- Provide project administration and contract administration duties, including records management. Generate well organized professional deliverables, including daily field reports. Assist the Owner with acquisition planning, technical reviews, execution, and administration. Collect requirements, prepare SOWs, and conduct market research, as appropriate.
- Provide technical support on a daily basis to all customers, manage electronic documents, serves as the liaison for stakeholders and customer groups, provide expertise, monitor security related issues, and maintain a coordinating relationship with the government agency, its clients, and external partners to include the architect-engineers, construction contractors, and other contractors supporting the government.
