MAU is hiring a Senior Controls Engineer for our client in Florence, KY. As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will maintain, improve, and optimize control systems, including machine, robot, vision, and measurement programs while supporting automation, manufacturing operations, and technical training. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Shift Information

  • Monday through Friday
  • Flexibility required
  • Availability outside of standard working hours is required to support urgent production needs when necessary.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of five years of hands-on PLC programming experience in a manufacturing or automation environment.
  • 5+ years of experience and/or specialized training in industrial control systems, automation, and robotics.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with Nexeed-MES and related portfolio.
  • Experience with ERP or other manufacturing execution software.
  • Project management experience.

General Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of PLC programming languages.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • College-level technical math skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions involving complex technical issues.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to assist with orienting and training lower-level employees.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn additional software packages.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Essential Functions

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex programming issues in control systems and automation equipment.
  • Identify and engage external technical expertise when necessary.
  • Debug and implement process improvements for assembly and manufacturing line controls to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Design, develop, and optimize control concepts for automated equipment and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and modify robot-to-PLC interface programs to ensure seamless integration and performance.
  • Maintain, update, and improve vision inspection systems used in the automation process.
  • Support maintenance teams in diagnosing and resolving equipment-related issues.
  • Provide hands-on technical training and guidance to controls and maintenance personnel on control systems and automation equipment.
  • Advance the technical competence of technicians throughout the organization.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, software, and hardware to maintain a high level of technical proficiency.
  • Execute special projects and assignments as directed by management.
  • Demonstrate advanced capability in PLC programming languages.
  • Maintain, improve, and optimize machine, robot, vision, and measurement programs.
  • Escalate only the most critical automation and programming issues when necessary.

  • Availability outside of normal working hours may be required to support production needs.

Physical Demands

  • Stand and walk for up to four hours at a time.
  • Repetitively bend, twist, and grasp.
