About the Opportunity:
ZipStaff is seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to support data gathering, analysis, reporting, and visualization initiatives for a major state government organization.
This role supports critical reporting and analytics needs within a large public-sector environment. Candidates with prior experience working in state or federal government settings will find the domain and stakeholder landscape familiar. You will focus on cleaning and transforming data, building analytical reports and dashboards, and delivering clear insights to various users while working with large data sets and ensuring high-quality, reliable reporting.
What You’ll Do:
- Gather, clean, and transform data using established techniques and tools.
- Apply data warehousing and ETL methods to prepare data for analysis and reporting.
- Write and maintain code in SQL, Python, and/or R to support analysis and automation.
- Develop statistical, analytical reports, and dashboard reports for various users.
- Perform analysis, problem-solving, and QA/troubleshooting on data and outputs.
- Create clear visualizations and reports using tools such as Tableau.
- Communicate findings effectively both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work with and understand large data sets while meeting established deadlines.
- Maintain documentation and technical writing standards for processes and deliverables.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar analytical role working with large data sets.
- Strong hands-on skills in SQL, plus coding experience in Python and/or R.
- Proven experience with data gathering, cleaning, and transforming techniques.
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL techniques.
- Hands-on experience creating reports and dashboards using Tableau or equivalent visualization tools.
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, and data QA/troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to develop statistical and analytical reports for diverse users.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.
- Ability to work on-site in Phoenix, AZ.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background working with statistical software and advanced analytical methods.
- Prior experience building self-service dashboards or standardized reporting frameworks.
