Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain a modern data platform supporting operational and analytical workloads. This hands-on role combines strong technical expertise, architectural insight, and problem-solving skills to deliver scalable solutions, ensure data quality, and support business needs.
The ideal candidate will own projects from start to finish, collaborate across technical and business teams, and mentor peers while remaining actively involved in development and troubleshooting.
Essential Duties
Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and streaming data.
Implement data validation and integrity frameworks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reconciliation across systems.
Administer and optimize cloud-based data services, including AWS, Snowflake, and Databricks.
Implement data governance and controls supporting PCI-DSS, GDPR, CPRA, CCPA, and SOX compliance.
Develop proof of concepts and lightweight prototypes to validate architectural improvements.
Collaborate with business units, audit teams, and stakeholders to align data architecture with organizational needs.
Support reporting and analytics teams through well-structured data models and governance, enabling Tableau and future reporting tools.
Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and mentor other team members.
Own projects end-to-end and deliver measurable results.
Diagnose and resolve complex data issues quickly.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of data engineering experience.
Advanced SQL expertise, including complex joins, subqueries, window functions, common table expressions, and data loading.
Advanced Python proficiency for developing and supporting production pipelines, frameworks, and automation.
Proven experience designing and managing data warehouses, including loading techniques, star schema modeling, slowly changing dimensions, and aggregate strategies.
Strong understanding of OLTP modeling and third normal form (3NF), including denormalization for performance and downstream use.
Production experience integrating unstructured and semi-structured data, including JSON, MongoDB, and APIs, into enterprise data environments.
Practical experience implementing and optimizing pipeline orchestration using tools such as Airflow or Prefect.
Experience implementing and optimizing third-party transformation and integration tools such as dbt, Talend, or Fivetran.
Demonstrated success delivering scalable solutions using cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks.
Applied experience using AWS services such as S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, and Secrets Manager securely and cost-effectively.
Demonstrated experience implementing data controls supporting PCI-DSS, GDPR, CPRA, CCPA, and SOX requirements.
Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences, including business and audit stakeholders.
Proven ability to mentor peers, promote best practices, and contribute to team growth.
Ability to adapt to changing requirements, emerging technologies, and competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with Data Lake and Lakehouse technologies such as Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, or Apache Hudi.
