Senior Dental Assistant (DAII) - Equinox Dental (Indian Trail / Monroe, NC)

Experience Required:
Equinox Dental is a start-up general practice in Union County offering advanced services in-house, including implant placement and endodontics. We're looking for an experienced Senior Dental Assistant who can confidently support a high-volume, surgically-focused practice from day one.

This is a hands-on clinical role with real variety — no two days look the same — and an opportunity to grow alongside a practice built around surgical excellence and patient experience. We're also structuring the schedule around a 4-day work week.

What You'll Do.
Clinical Support:
  • Assist the dentist chairside during a variety of treatment procedures across implants, endodontics, restorative, and general dentistry.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays) accurately and efficiently, with attention to patient comfort.
  • Review patient medical history and take vital signs (blood pressure, pulse) at the start of each visit.
  • Take impressions of patients' teeth for study casts/models.
  • Fabricate temporary crowns and pack retraction cord as directed.
  • Prophy polish patients as allowed by state regulations.
  • Provide patients with clear instructions for oral care following surgery or other treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration.
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies (e.g., brushing, flossing, nutritional counseling) to maintain oral health.
  • Help provide direct patient care across dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, endodontics, general dentistry, and oral surgery.

Infection Control & Sterilization:
Serve as the practice's infection control officer — developing infection control protocol and preparing/sterilizing instruments and equipment.

Patient Experience:
  • Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment.
  • Practice Operations.
  • Perform office management tasks, often requiring use of a personal computer.
  • Manage inventory and dental supplies, including ordering as needed.
  • Communicate with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing, and ordering supplies).
  • Help maintain office cleanliness, including waiting areas, operatories, lobbies, restrooms, and front office appearance.

Digital Dentistry:
Be digital-dentistry forward-thinking and tech-savvy; comfortable adopting new clinical software and digital workflows.

What You Bring:
  • Required: Prior experience as a dental assistant in a clinical setting — this is not an entry-level role.
  • Comfort assisting across multiple specialties (oral surgery, endo, perio, restorative); implant or surgical assisting experience is a strong plus.
  • Digital-dentistry forward-thinking and tech-savvy — comfortable with intraoral scanners, digital imaging, and practice management software.
  • Flexible working hours, experience with dental patient management software, and front office experience are highly preferred.
  • Strong chairside manner — calm, clear communication with anxious or surgical patients.
  • Reliability and flexibility with scheduling.
  • X-ray certification per NC state requirements.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Pay: $22–$24/hr, based on experience (surgical/implant assisting experience considered toward the higher end).
  • Schedule: Likely a 4-day work week.
  • Paid time off.
  • Uniform/scrub allowance.
  • Opportunity for growth as the practice expands.

Why Equinox:
You'll be part of a startup practice built around in-house surgical capability — meaning more variety, more learning, and more ownership than a typical GP office. We're investing in modern equipment and systems from day one, and we're looking for team members who want to grow with us, not just fill a chair.
