Senior DevOps Engineer

Position Title: Senior DevOps Engineer
Location: fully onsite in McLean, VA
Duration: 6 months with possible extension

Must Have Qualifications: Must have 5+ years of experience and hands on expertise in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible and CloudFormation. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred). Java or a similar programming language, such as Python, is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Java-based applications.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Build and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement observability solutions.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize build processes and deployment strategies.
• Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and optimize for cost and performance.
• Implement and enforce security best practices across the development lifecycle (DevSecOps).
• Lead incident response and conduct post-mortem analyses to improve reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote DevOps culture and best practices.
• Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual toil and improve efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or related roles.
• Strong Java development background with understanding of the JVM ecosystem (Spring Boot, Maven/Gradle).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar).
• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud platforms (such as AWS).
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
• Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or Groovy).
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk).
• Solid understanding of networking, security, and system administration.
