Senior Director, Clinical Laboratory Operations Management

Job Description

Position Summary: Direct day-to-day operations of the clinical laboratory within a labor-management partnership environment, overseeing both credentialed and non-credentialed personnel. You will ensure timely, accurate laboratory reporting, maintain hands-on testing competency as appropriate, and establish strategic alignment with quality assurance, safety, compliance, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee multiple units and departments, translating business strategy into actionable requirements, managing resource allocation, and resolving escalated issues.
  • Talent Development: Drive recruitment, selection, and professional development while fostering a high-performing, engaged, and cross-functional workforce.
  • Compliance & Accreditation: Maintain rigorous adherence to CAP/CLIA and regulatory standards, overseeing comprehensive policies, inspection checklists, licensing renewals, and proficiency testing.
  • Process & Quality Improvement: Evaluate and standardize technical workflows, champion innovative testing methodologies, and drive continuous improvement in patient safety and service efficiency.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Act as a key liaison across internal teams, external vendors, and public health agencies to align operations, community health initiatives, and regional strategies.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Experience:
  • Master's Degree (Minimum) in Healthcare, Leadership, Operations, or Laboratory Science.
  • 12+ years of experience in medical technology, clinical laboratory sciences, or a healthcare-related field (with a Bachelor's), OR 15+ years of overall experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting, specifically leading other leaders at an executive or senior level within a large enterprise.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • 4+ years of experience managing operational or project budgets.
