Senior Electrical Designer

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Designer to support the design and execution of power generation and industrial projects in Charlotte, NC. The Senior Electrical Designer will lead electrical design activities, provide technical direction within the electrical discipline, and take responsibility for advanced design scopes and complete design packages.
This role requires a strong understanding of electrical design principles, applicable codes and standards, and power industry practices. The Senior Electrical Designer will serve as a technical lead and design checker, mentor junior designers, and collaborate closely with engineering, construction, procurement, and project teams to support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute electrical design activities for power generation and industrial facilities in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for electrical design execution within assigned projects.
- Select, recommend, and adapt design procedures, standards, and techniques.
- Prepare, coordinate, and review preliminary and detailed electrical designs for engineering approval.
- Lead and mentor Electrical Designers while supporting workload planning, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with Project and Discipline Leads.
- Perform detailed design reviews and checks to ensure technical accuracy, constructability, and completeness.
- Serve as the technical design checker or lead designer for assigned projects.
- Coordinate electrical design activities with engineering, construction, and other disciplines.
- Design and coordinate complex electrical systems, including:
- Underground ductbanks and raceway systems
- Cable tray systems
- Conduit and conduit support systems
- Interior, exterior, roadway, and area lighting
- Grounding and bonding systems
- Participate in design reviews, constructability evaluations, and client meetings.
- Provide field support, including site visits, field verifications, redline documentation, as-built documentation, and retrofit evaluations.
- Support procurement activities, including vendor coordination, submittal reviews, and installation support.
- Ensure adherence to quality, safety, schedule, and project execution standards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of electrical design practices, standards, and processes.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Associate Degree with appropriate drafting and design coursework.
- Minimum 12+ years of electrical design experience, with a strong emphasis on power generation and/or power infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience serving in a Senior or Lead Electrical Designer capacity.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Electrical raceway systems
- Underground ductbanks and cable tray systems
- Grounding and bonding
- Interior and exterior lighting systems
- Power generation facility design environments
- Proficiency with 2D and 3D electrical design tools, including AVEVA E3D and/or Revit.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable power industry standards.
- Ability to work independently while providing leadership, guidance, and technical direction to other designers.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel and work in both office and field environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Design, Drafting, or a related technical field.
- Experience with AVEVA E3D and/or Revit in industrial or power generation environments.
- Certificate in Design or Drafting.
- Experience supporting EPC/EPCM power projects.
- Experience with field verification, retrofit design, construction support, and as-built documentation.
- Previous experience leading design teams or serving as a discipline-level technical resource.
