In this role, you will lead project teams through the technical execution of clean-sheet turbomachinery designs, integrating structural, thermal, and rotordynamic considerations into robust subsystem designs. You will take ownership of major work packages, coordinate engineering activities across cross-functional teams, and serve as the technical interface between customers, internal teams, and suppliers. Additional responsibilities include leading component and rig testing, reviewing designs for compliance with project specifications, and mentoring early-career engineers.
Responsibilities for the Senior Engineer Projects job in Arvada, CO include:
Lead the technical execution of clean-sheet turbomachinery projects in collaboration with senior engineering leadership
Manage project budgets, schedules, risk, and requirements, and lead the design review process, including customer meetings and communication
Prepare and present design documentation, analysis reports, and review materials
Lead subsystem design efforts, applying sound technical judgment in component selection to develop new or modify existing product designs
Perform advanced engineering analysis and calculations, including heat transfer, structural and rotating component stress analysis, aero/hydrodynamics, cycle analysis, and component sizing
Coordinate component and rig testing, analyze results, and recommend conclusions
Review designs and drawing packages to ensure compliance with project specifications and requirements
Serve as the technical interface between customers, internal teams, and suppliers
Mentor early-career engineers through technical coaching and design review
Drive continuous improvement in engineering tools, workflows, and best practices
Support troubleshooting during manufacturing, testing, and prototype builds
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 7 years of engineering experience in new product design, preferably focused on turbomachinery or rotating equipment
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and advanced drafting
- Experience performing engineering calculations and analyses, such as stress, thermal, and vibration
- Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more analysis areas, such as FEA, thermal, bearings, or rotordynamics
- Proficiency with FEA and/or CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS, CFX, or equivalent)
- Proven ability to own subsystem-level engineering tasks through completion and coordinate across multiple disciplines
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to present technical material to internal and external audiences
- Demonstrated experience mentoring less-experienced engineers
- Ability to serve as a technical or project lead on engineering work packages
- Willingness to work overtime as required and travel up to 10% of working time
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Deep technical expertise in areas such as rotordynamics, heat transfer, bearings, seals, or structural design
- Demonstrated leadership of engineering teams or subsystem-level projects
- Hands-on experience with prototype builds, hardware testing, and data correlation with analysis
- Familiarity with turbomachinery system integration, including aero/hydro, manufacturing, and test methods
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or advanced certifications in a mechanical engineering discipline
This position offers a salary range of $120,000 to $160,000
