Senior Engineering Manager

Overview

The Senior Manager will oversee engineering, maintenance, and technical services functions at a dynamic manufacturing facility in the nutraceutical industry. This leadership role is pivotal in driving the growth and development of these departments, ensuring operational reliability, efficiency, and compliance while spearheading strategic initiatives such as automation, capacity expansion, and new technology integration. The role involves managing a team of professionals and collaborating cross-functionally with operations, quality assurance, safety, and R&D teams to support manufacturing objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Services

  • Lead site-wide engineering projects, including equipment installations, process improvements, utility system upgrades, and technology transfers.
  • Manage capital planning and project execution, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and equipment performance.

Maintenance & Utilities

  • Oversee the maintenance of production equipment, HVAC systems, utilities, and facility infrastructure to ensure reliability and compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and optimize operational efficiency.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise a team of manufacturing engineers, maintenance professionals, and technical services engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address manufacturing challenges and support new product introductions.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Implement safety protocols and training to maintain a secure and efficient workplace.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 10–14 years in engineering, maintenance, or technical services, with expertise across all three areas.
  • Skills: Strong background in process engineering, automation, and problem-solving. Familiarity with nutraceutical manufacturing processes (e.g., softgel production) is preferred but not required.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop teams, manage complex projects, and guide direct reports effectively.
  • Education: Advanced degree or equivalent experience in engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Other: Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to address equipment-related challenges efficiently.

Work Environment

  • The role operates in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
  • Requires near and distance vision for equipment inspections and project oversight.
  • Physical demands are minimal, with occasional tasks requiring up to 33% of the workday (0–2.5 hours).
